A good meal makes a day feel like a Friday. I got off of work (i closed my laptop cause i wfh on mondays) and went to the gym. As I got there I debated between Chest day and Leg day since both I haven't done in a week or so. When I made it up the stairs to the gym floor, I see that the leg machines I would use were taken up, so now my choice was easy. Blasted through my sets and then quickly ran home.
I was thinking of cooking, but I was desperately craving ramen. Hopped on yelp and then decided to go to one I haven't been before. There is almost an anticipation on drive there for me because I have the image from yelp. I get there, walk into the restaurant (which was quite empty) and go seated quickly. A quick look at the menu and I knew what I was getting. The shoyu ramen.
I ordered, took my jacket off to get comfortable and started scrolling on twitter (never will refer to it by a different name). Some of my friends tweeted so of course I liked and tweeted back at them, then soon enough my food came out.
The bowl was steaming and filled the air with a chicken essence backed by the smell of the ocean. Clearly visible was bamboo shoots, sous-vide Chashu, a marinated egg split in two and green onions placed into the middle. Underneath were the noodles which were quite thin, but had a firm bite to them.
To be honest, the next few minutes were a blur because basically threw the food in my mouth. For me, finding a new ramen is a blessing especially when it isn't a tonkotsu style. And I sat there in bliss, only wishing I could eat that same bowl again. Tomorrow, I just might.
